Torrance, California is an ideal community to raise a safe, healthy, happy family. No one knows this better than City Council candidate Aurelio Mattucci. His family planted his Southern California roots by moving here when he was just six years old. Mattucci is now further strengthening those roots by raising his own children here in Torrance.

It’s clear to see that strong family ties are important to Aurelio Mattucci just by looking at what he stands for.  Public Safety and Education are at the top of Mattucci’s list of priorities for improving and maintaining the quality of life in Torrance.

“If we can't feel safe in our own neighborhoods we will live in fear.  I am a strong supporter of our local Police Department and I will always strive to insure the safety of our community,” Mattucci says on his campaign website. He also advocates for community involvement, with neighbors getting involved to look out for each other to prevent crime before it happens and landlords stepping up to provide well-lit and secure properties.

It could be argued that the very first step in preventing crime begins with a strong education in a safe and effective school. Mattucci is a strong proponent of community involvement in the Torrance Unified School District as well to work toward the goal of having the best possible schools for our children.  When elected, Mattucci plans to promote more programs for kids and parents and making sure that taxpayers have a say in where there money gets allocated. Furthering community involvement, Mattucci recommends community volunteerism and private sponsorships.  Mattucci believes parents should be able to pick up a paintbrush to improve a classroom and approved companies should be able to donate for improvement and construction projects as corporate benefactors.

For candidate Aurelio Mattucci, he’s not seeking election for personal gain. For him, it’s about getting his hands in the soil to tend to the roots of the city as a whole, providing a beautiful and rewarding life for all families and businesses. There is real action behind his words which can be seen through his all-volunteer organization, The Mattucci Project, which comes to residences or businesses in need to remove trash, debris and weeds, trim overgrowth and offer educational resources for those who may be struggling to maintain a property. 

These are just a few reasons why Aurelio Mattucci is the right choice for Torrance City Council. 

Aurelio Mattucci Plans for Responsible Budget Practices

With this week’s guilty pleas and sentencing for officials involved in the City of Bell misappropriation of funds scandal, many So-Cal voters are likely concerned about responsible budgeting. When a population elects their local representatives, they are entrusting their future, finances and peace of mind to their new representatives. Scandals like what occurred in Bell terribly damage the public’s faith in local government.

For Torrance City Council candidate, Aurelio Mattucci, maintaining the public’s trust is extremely important. This will begin with careful and conservative budget management with forethought and planning for the future. Mattucci’s stance on managing the city budget includes these points:

• “…We must always take into consideration the fact that years from now we will have to deal with the decisions of today.”  
• Maintaining “a conservative approach to spending and prioritizes expenditures by necessity not popularity.”  
• Regarding pensions, “I want to make sure both the tax payers and employees are protected and treated fairly.” 
• Consider “the cost of living in our area and make sure we can continue to hold on to good employees and not just give them a job but a career with a retirement that will allow them and their families to remain residents of Torrance.”  
• Listening to residents to “make sure the tax payers are also in the decision process and not unilaterally make decisions that benefit a few and burden all.”

Candidate Mattucci has lived in Torrance since 1977 and is invested in the future of his city. He will be appearing at upcoming public forum events to meet with voters and answer questions. The next forums at which he is scheduled to appear are:
